We are a multi-agency organisation with a clear focus on helping people in the East Midlands who may have a concern about someone who is vulnerable to, or involved in violent extremism.
Violent extremism is an issue that affects everybody, regardless of age, gender, sexuality, nationality or religion. Recent events have caused pain, fear and loss of human life - something which no-one should have to endure. These acts of violent extremism are committed by a small minority of people who are motivated by an extreme ideology and a misguided view about how to further their cause.
We know that there are people who deliberately prey upon vulnerable individuals in order to draw them into their violent causes and act on their behalf. The EMCCU exists to provide interventions and support which help empower vulnerable people to resist violent ideology and also challenge those groups who target them.
